Why is a root canal needed?
Endodontics are performed on those teeth that suffer from deep caries, which cause inflammation or necrosis (death) of the dental pulp. There are other reasons for the appearance of pulpitis or inflammation of the pulp such as: trauma, abrasion, erosion and wear of the teeth due to friction between them (for example, due to bruxism) or the way in which some restorative treatments and the materials used in them.
The dental pulp, for those who do not know what it is, is the innermost part of the tooth, and where the nerves and blood vessels are located. In the event that inflammation occurs in this, it can cause pain, which can be of different degrees and occur on different occasions: against heat or against cold, in certain postures, when eating or drinking, etc. The IMED Dental dentist will decide, depending on the type and degree of pain, if endodontics is a solution for us.
